The left edge of the Notes application window, shown at right in red, is the bookmark margin. The margin is always displayed no matter what you are doing in MasterFile or Notes.
To create a bookmark to a frequently used document, extract or fact profile, or any keyword form, drag and drop its tab over to the bookmark margin. Simply click on the bookmark to open. To create a bookmark to a database, right click over the view, choose “Create Bookmark …” and be sure to set the type to “Database”.
Right clicking over a bookmark provides you options to rename and delete it. You can also set a bookmark to be your “Home Page” so when you start Notes, that specific case opens.
Click on the “Favourite Bookmarks” icon and it opens as a “fly-out” panel where you can also organize bookmarks in your own folders. Simply click on a bookmark to open that profile or database, etc.
To create a bookmark in “Favourite Bookmarks”, just drag the item’s tab over to the “Favourite Bookmarks” folder and hover over it for a fraction of a second while keeping your mouse button pressed. The “Favourite Bookmarks” folder will open letting you complete the drag and drop.
You can also “pin” the “Favourite Bookmarks” folder to the left of the menu panel so it remains open and always available like the bookmark margin. “Favourite Bookmarks” can be sorted, searched and displayed in various formats. If you click on the various icons displayed at the top of the folder you’ll see the available options.
You can also create shortcuts to MasterFile databases, or specific document, extract or fact profiles on your Windows desktop. Just like creating bookmarks, drag the item’s tab, but this time drop it on the desktop. Double clicking on a desktop icon launches Notes and directly opens the MasterFile database or profile.
Be more effective with MasterFile – a true, small-firm platform for simple document management through complex litigation that replaces CaseMap, Concordance, & Relativity, etc.
